Sarah and Marcus met on a backcountry skiing expedition in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains back in 2012. What started as a chance encounter at a remote mountain hut—with Sarah speaking to the hut keeper in fluent German and Marcus translating for confused fellow hikers—turned into a lifelong partnership both in adventure and in business.
Sarah brings over 15 years of experience as a certified mountain guide and wilderness first aid instructor. Originally from Boulder, she's summited peaks across four continents and speaks five languages, having guided international clients through the Alps, Andes, and Himalayas. Her infectious passion for teaching others to navigate Colorado's challenging terrain safely is matched only by her love for sharing stories from her global adventures.
Marcus, a former Park Service ranger turned outdoor gear specialist, has an encyclopedic knowledge of Colorado's hidden gems—as well as secret trails he's discovered during his extensive travels through Patagonia, the Dolomites, and New Zealand's South Island. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese from his conservation work in South America, his background in environmental science and love for sustainable outdoor practices shapes WestBay's commitment to Leave No Trace principles worldwide.
Together, they've guided thousands of adventurers through Colorado's wilderness, from nervous first-time campers to seasoned alpinists seeking new challenges. Their combined expertise, genuine love for the outdoors, and international perspective—gained from adventures on six continents—is what makes every WestBay experience unforgettable and globally-informed.
